Garvin is another disciple of 70's and 80's rock/pop.He draws influences from any direction he can; anywhere from the glam 80's "hair bands" like Poison and Bon Jovi, to the likes of Judas Priest and Iron Maiden. But his absolute musical loves are bands such as Journey, Boston, Triumph,and Styx. "Anyone that can have a vocal-based band, and still be able to kick you in the head AT WILL with the guitars, keys, and rhythm section....how can they go wrong?!"

Garvin found success in the 90's playing in the popular cover band 'Gun Shy' , which after a few years grew to evolve into 'In Deep'.

He bases his success on the fact that he's always been fortunate to play with talented musicians. Some former bandmates include members that have played in the Detroit area's most popular bands. He likes to pass time playing his extensive collection of guitars; also writing and recording when time allows in his home studio. Guitars include Fender Strats, a Fender 1950's Telecaster, Gibson Les Pauls, Washburn and Fender acoustics.  He uses a POD XT live unit (with custom made tones) through a 120-watt Crate combo amp. He states that his main tone is a combination of Neal Schon and Eric Johnson. At least that's what he's going for :-)
